Underground Utility Plow Operator | Sioux Falls

Full-Time, Hourly

VIKOR is currently seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Underground Utility Plow Operator to join our team. The Underground Utility Plow Operator will be responsible for operating specialized equipment to install underground utility lines, such as fiber optic cables, or conduits. The ideal candidate will have experience in operating heavy machinery and a strong understanding of underground utility installation procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Operate underground plow equipment such as a D6 dozer with Bron plow attachment or equivalent to install utility lines according to project specifications and safety guidelines.

• Capable of using a backhoe, rake and mini excavator to perform clean up and restoration when necessary

• Coordinate with project managers, supervisors, and utility crews to ensure efficient and timely completion of installations.

• Conduct pre-operation inspections of equipment to ensure proper functioning and identify any maintenance or repair needs.

• Maneuver equipment in tight spaces and around obstacles while maintaining safety and precision.

• Monitor underground plow depth and alignment to avoid damage to existing utilities and property.

• Understand various soil and ground conditions for plowing/trenching

• Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform minor repairs as needed.

• Adhere to all relevant safety regulations and company policies to prevent accidents and injuries.

• Maintain accurate records of work performed, including equipment usage, maintenance activities, and project progress.

• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to provide updates on work status and any issues encountered.

• Participate in training sessions and continuing education programs to stay current on industry best practices and equipment operation techniques.

Requirements:

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

• Proven experience operating heavy machinery, preferably in underground utility installation or construction.

• Knowledge of underground utility installation methods, materials, and safety procedures.

• Ability to read and interpret project plans, blueprints, and specifications.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

• Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.

• Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor and operate equipment for extended periods.

• Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and environments.

• Commitment to safety and adherence to all relevant regulations and standards.
